Pick-up techniques are just what they sound like; techniques that employ picking up (and sometimes dropping) certain warp threads. Once you start working with the pick-up techniques, the number of "styles" of designs increases dramatically. There are many different ways to do the pick-up techniques, too many to cover is this information packet. But, once you have experience with these, you can experiment with others or make up your own. There are three primary styles.

  • pick-up technique on the horizontal stripe
  • background pick-up on the spotted background
  • pick-up on basketweave background technique

The three are all basically the same. The difference is mostly in the background. The books that are available for purchase will have details for these techniques.
